Hello u guys smile.gif

I have HP Deskjet 840c, quite an old one,
but still useful for me (as long as it's printing).

but this printer has been bugging me for a long time,
and since this morning it refused to do any work angry.gif

1.Everytime I turn on the printer, even though there's nothing to print,
it feeds paper automatically,
and it just stops there with paper feeded.

or,
it starts printing this wierd letters, or it just feeds paper forever and ever.

It doesn't matter what kind of OS i am using,
reinstalling driver didn't help, the formatting whole computer did not help either.

2. When i have something to print, I cannot print out because of the problems
listed in #1.

the only way i can print things out is, click the print button with printer turned off,
quickly turning on printer while the data is being transferrred to printer.

but even that method doesn't work anymore. it would just feed papers forever,
and just go nuts. (all three lights blinking like crazy, and i can't even turn it off)

I just spend $40 for a new ink catridge, and i can't belive i just threw $40
down the drain just because this damn printer is not working.

I need your help guys,

Thanks in advance,

I happen to have one of those printers and I've experienced similar problems. A couple weeks ago, I could have sworn that I wrecked it when I did something (sorry, I can't recall what I did to cause the problem) and suddenly the power and paper feed lights started flashing and an awful sound started coming from it.

When I opened the cover, I saw the cartridges stuck in the middle position. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I solved the problem by simply unplugging the printer (I can't remember if I disconnected the interface cable too) for a few minutes. After I plugged it back in, everything worked just fine.

Give it a try.

It'd be great if everything works like that - restart and problem fixed smile.gif

The HP Deskjet 840c printing problem. so I am working on solving a problem with a HP Deskjet 840c for someone and would like your help. Now, I've been looking to see what the problem is and I've noticed that the sockets for the ink should have ESD blades (part # C2145-00037).This person was using the printer on a Windows 98 computer and it was working fine. Then she bought a new computer with Windows XP and connected the printer to it.
