ok heres what I'm doing:
Setting up a Canon CLBP360 Laser printer (has NIC) on my home network
some say I need a jet direct othiers say I don't. any who heres how its connected
Printer = Router = PC
Printer IP is set to a static IP with gateway pointing to my router and i get a link light.
I can ping the printer IP.
I set up new tcp/ip port. (running XP pro) Problem may lie here cause I cannot difine port? or maybe its the NIC im not sure
insalled drivers.
Printer does not show on my network (Should It?)
I opened the two ports I saw listed in the set up for my Router (23) (9100)
I've been working on this for four days and cant get anywhere. Help!
Ive gone to ADD PRINTER=Local Printer=Create new port=TCP/IP=Entered Printers Static IP (it stagers to next step) then says "The Detected Device is of uknown type" so it wants you to either correct the ip or perform another search? WTF! or it gives you one last option to Identifie your "device Type" from a list of what I assume to be NIC's, I see canon ones and have tried them all but none have any Resolve? HELP
