HP LaserJet problem

Hi,

I'm having a problem installing my LaserJet printer with a USB cable. I keep getting the message "Error writing to USB001 for the printer HPLaserJet. The printer is not ready."

I've checked the cables over and over again. It's plugged in. I've wasted so much time trying to figure this out. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Kate best thing to do is:
1 uninstall the printer
2 remove all cables from between the PC/Printer
3 if software came with your printer re install it then boot up your computer as normal and inssert the usb cable into your pc

or

4 If there was no software, plug in your USB cable anyway and leet windows automatically install it or select from a list of printers.
