HP psc 750 connect message

I have a hp psc 750 printer,copy, scan which has worked just fine until recently. It copies and prints ok but when I try to scan something it says it is not connected to the PC. Could something in the Windows Update files have caused a conflict to just the scan option?
Please HELP!!
