My HP IIP is producing perfect test pages (i.e. generated by panel on the printer front) but it only prints a single line of garbled stuff when I try to print from my computer using Windows 98SE.

I have reloaded the driver several times from my Windows CD and no problem printing with a HP IIIP (which is very similar to IIP).....

Its possible you have a bad formatter. go to a DOS prompt ( c:\) and type in the phrase DIR>lpt1 and see if it prints a copy of your directory. If it does, it is an application issue. If not its probably the formatter board.
